UNCOOL
In the image series “Uncool,” various fragments and perspectives of an iceberg drifting in the ocean are shown. The iceberg appears isolated, lost within an apparently endless expanse of water. Some of the views are marked with graffiti tags that comment on the state of our icy world. Words such as Melt, Sorry, End, Try Again, No Return, and Uncoolfunction like casual, almost sarcastic remarks on a problem that has long been visible, yet continues to be suppressed.
Climate change and the melting of glaciers are ever-present issues, but for many they remain abstract and geographically distant. The tags break this distance: they point to the careless occupation of space by humans and make it visually tangible. Graffiti is an expression of identity, appropriation, and permanence in public space. In this context, it becomes a metaphor for the traces humanity leaves on Earth—often thoughtless and irreversible.
The icy landscape becomes a projection surface for human intervention and ignorance. The iceberg bears the marks of a civilization that is itself part of its disappearnce— a quiet commentary on transience and the irreversible impact on fragile systems.
